ET CASE Project
ET CASE (Education and Training for Circular and Sustainable Economy) is an Erasmus+ project focused on supporting schools in integrating circular economy principles into teaching and learning.
The project brings together partners from across Europe to develop practical tools, research-based insights, and ready-to-use classroom activities that help students better understand sustainability, resource use, and their own role in shaping a more circular future.
A key focus of the project is moving beyond theoretical knowledge. While many students are familiar with concepts such as recycling, the project addresses the gap between awareness and actual behaviour. ET CASE therefore emphasises hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real-life application.
The main outputs of the project include:
- Research on students’ knowledge and behaviour related to circular economy
- Innovation Lab methodologies for classroom use
- Practical activities and challenges for schools
- EduBoxes: structured, ready-to-use teaching modules for teachers
The Role of UNAK in the ET CASE Project
The University of Akureyri (UNAK) plays a central role in ensuring that the project outputs are translated into practical and usable educational resources.
UNAK contributes to the pedagogical development of the project, with a particular focus on making materials accessible, structured, and relevant for teachers. This includes active involvement in the development of EduBoxes, which are designed as ready-to-use classroom activities that bring circular economy concepts into everyday teaching.
In addition, UNAK supports the dissemination of project results by helping to develop clear and user-friendly ways of presenting materials online. The aim is not only to share results, but to ensure that teachers and schools can easily find, understand, and apply them in practice.
Drawing on its expertise in teaching, learning design, and flexible education, UNAK helps ensure that the ET CASE outputs are engaging, practical, and adaptable to different educational contexts.
Through these contributions, UNAK supports the overall goal of the project: to foster meaningful behavioural change among students and strengthen the role of education in the transition towards a circular economy.
